How to get alert?

Android Earthquake Alerts System is already working in many countries. In these countries, warning is received before earthquakes occur. Google is talking to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Seismology Center (NSC) to bring this system in India also. Very soon alerts will start being received in India too.

Get alerts like this on your phone

Google's alert system uses your phone's sensors. It uses the phone's accelerometer as a seismograph. In this way your phone becomes a small earthquake detector.

Make these settings to get Google's earthquake alert in your phone.

Go to the settings of your Android smartphone.

Select Location option here.

Now go to Earthquake Alerts.

There will be a toggle on this option, turn it on.

After this, you will start receiving earthquake alerts on your phone also.

Keep in mind that Google's alert system is still in the testing phase. Google sends alerts only for earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 or more. There are some places where this system does not work.
