The shopkeeper will not have to give mobile number for the bill, the government gave the order

If the shopkeeper also asks for your mobile number for the bill, then tell that now the government has issued an advisory taking action after the complaints received from the customers.

Often it must have happened with you people at some time or the other when the shopkeeper would have asked you for your mobile number for the bill after paying you too. But let us tell you that the Consumer Affairs Ministry has issued an advisory to end this practice.

Please tell that now only the customers will have the choice whether they want to share their mobile number with the shopkeeper or not. Overall, now the shopkeeper will not be able to put pressure on the customers in the name of not providing service.

Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said that after receiving several complaints from the customers, the central government has issued an advisory. He told that many customers have also complained that retailers refuse to provide service to customers for not sharing their mobile number.

Customers said that the retailer or shopkeeper tells them that if they do not share the contact details, then they cannot generate the bill.

Explain that this is a wrong practice under the Consumer Protection Act, Rohit Kumar Singh says that the shopkeepers cannot take the mobile number from the customer unless the customer's wish is included in it. Advisory has been issued to the retail industry and organizations like CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM to resolve this issue in the interest of consumers.

Unwanted calls and messages will be banned

After shopping, on asking the customer's mobile number for the bill, the customer's number gets fed in the shopkeeper's database, due to which calls and messages start coming to the customers for offers etc. in the coming times. Many times customers get very angry due to these calls and messages, now the government has issued an advisory to stop this practice.
