Archbishop of Chicago and Metropolitan of the Diocese of Chicago Cardinal Blaise J. Cupich says, “The Catholic Church in Illinois has been at the forefront of tackling the sexual abuse of minors for many years. Working together at this time in the Illinois Attorney General's Office, the leaders of all six Illinois dioceses have sought to clarify and update our perspective in this area, taking into account our lived experiences and best practices.” Continuing his point, he has further said that, “Our common goal in doing this is to ensure that we can provide immediate assistance to the people affected by this tragedy. And implement joint effective measures to stop this evil as soon as possible.
