The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of the formation of this storm due to the formation of a low-pressure area in the South East of the Bay of Bengal, due to which this storm can knock in some states of the country this week. In view of this danger, the Meteorological Department has asked fishermen and boatmen to be alert.

According to the Director General of the Meteorological Department, Mrityunjay Mohapatra, this cyclonic storm can form in the southeast of the Bay of Bengal by May 9, after which it can hit the coastal areas a few days later. According to the information, this storm can affect the coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha.

Administration alert in Odisha

Meanwhile, preparations have already been started in Odisha to deal with the cyclonic storm. The collector of 18 coastal areas and its surrounding districts has been put on alert. Apart from this, 11 departments have also been put on alert. Apart from this, other teams including NDRF, ODRAF have also been made to be ready so that their help can be taken if needed. At the same time, in some reports, there is a possibility of the effect of this storm from Bangladesh to Myanmar.

Earlier, in view of the danger of Mocha storm, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also held an important meeting on Tuesday in which preparations were reviewed. During this, Naveen Patnaik had asked all the teams to remain alert. Let me tell you, even before this, the coastal areas have faced three big storms in three years. These include Fani in 2019, Amfan in 2020, Yas storm in 2021.

Why the name of the storm Mocha?

Seeing the intensity of the cyclonic storm, this cyclonic storm has been named Mocha. Although this name has not been officially confirmed yet. This name was recommended by Yemen. The name comes from Mocha, a Yemeni city on the Red Sea coast. Mocha has long been known for its coffee business.
