GoFirst Airline has 27 aircraft which were operational till 2 May. It has 51 and 37 departure slots at the main airports of Delhi and Mumbai. The plan is to resume operations as soon as possible.

Wadia Group's GoFirst is planning to resume flights by May 24. According to the information, the airline has worked on a plan to resume with 23 aircraft but smaller operations. According to people in the know, the airline has 27 aircraft which were operational till May 2. It has 51 and 37 departure slots at the main airports of Delhi and Mumbai. The plan is to resume operations as soon as possible. The airline has discussed restoration plans with the government. The current management, which will now be taken over by resolution professionals from court-appointed consultancy firm Alvarez & Marsal, will hold a meeting tomorrow, following which it will approach the government to resume bookings.

Planning will be put forward

Civil aviation regulator DGCA on Monday directed the airline to stop selling Tatkal tickets and issued a show cause notice for sudden stoppage of operation and immediate suspension of service. If experts are to be believed, after the meeting with the resolution professional, the airline will submit a revival plan to the DGCA, which will include the total number of aircraft and the names of the destinations. The NCLT on Wednesday accepted the company's application for voluntary insolvency resolution process.

The court order restrains lessors from recovering pending dues or terminating aircraft lease deals and also restrains airports from canceling airline slots. Leisures had filed deregistration request for 46 aircraft which has now become invalid. Airline CEO Kaushik Khona said that this is a historic decision and an ideal example of reviving the business. He said that he wants to start the airline as soon as possible.

After the cancellation of flights by GoFirst before the summer vacation, the air fare of these destinations has reached the sky. Serum data shows that for the month of May, GoFirst was to operate 199 flights from Delhi to Srinagar, 182 flights from Delhi to Leh and 156 flights on the Mumbai-Goa route.
