In view of this, women suffering from depression are being treated with a new technique in AIIMS Delhi. This technique is called Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) therapy.
What is rTMS therapy
AIIMS Psychiatrist Professor Dr. Nand Kumar says that some women may become victims of depression during pregnancy. In such a situation, they need special care. Women who are suffering from depression come to the department. Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) therapy has been used for the treatment of one such woman.
Through this magnet is used. This therapy is non invasive and safe. During this therapy, the treating doctor places an electromagnetic coil on the patient's head. This coil activates the nerves in the brain, which reduces the symptoms of depression. After this procedure, the patient does not have any problem for at least 6 months. This treatment lasts for 30 to 45 minutes. The patient also feels tapping.
