Central government Blocks 14 Apps: Threat to country's security, Center blocks 14 messenger mobile apps

The central government has blocked 14 messenger mobile apps. These apps include apps like Crypvisor to Enigma, SafeSwiss, Vikrame.

The Central Government has blocked 14 messenger mobile applications being used by terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir at the behest of Defense forces , Security, Intelligence and Investigative Agencies . These apps include apps like Crypvisor, Enigma, SafeSwiss, Vikerme, Mediafire, Briar, Beechat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second Line, Jangi, Threema. According to reports, several agencies found that these apps were being used by terrorists in Kashmir to communicate with their supporters and on-ground workers ( OGWs) .

When the government found out, it found that the representatives of these apps were not from India and as per Indian laws, they could not be contacted for seeking information. Agencies had tried several times to contact the app management but they did not have any office in India to contact.

These apps used to help terrorists

According to the report, most of these apps were designed to hide the identity of the users and their features made it difficult to trace them to the organizations associated with them. On being informed by several agencies, Home Affairs found that these mobile apps help terrorists and their supporters to engage in activities.

Terrorists' communication network banned

In the last few years, the government has been trying to block the communication network of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The servers of the apps that have been blocked are in different countries, which makes them difficult to trace. There is no way to intercept these apps due to the heavy encryption available in the apps.
