Digital Data Protection Bill 2022: More than 20 thousand people gave suggestions to the government, this year the bill will be presented in the monsoon session

Digital Data Protection Bill 2022: The draft will have to be approved by the cabinet before being presented in Parliament. Although the ministers of the government are constantly defending it. They say that it is favorable for the industry.

The Central Government had prepared the draft of the Digital Data Protection Bill 2022 long back. This bill will be introduced in the Monsoon Session of Parliament this year. Along with protecting the data of common people, this bill will be used in many other ways. After this bill is passed, if the companies make a dent on the personal data of the people, then they may have to pay a fine of up to 250 crores.

It was drafted by IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on 18 November 2022. After this, public opinion was also sought in this. Giving information about the Digital Data Protection Bill, the government had said that it gives information about the digital rights and duties of the citizens. The government had sought public opinion in this matter by 17 December 2022. It was said in this that full care will be taken of the privacy of the people. Knowledgeable officials of the matter told that this time more than 20000 answers have been received.

Opposition making issue

When the government proposed this bill, there was a controversy after that. The opposition had created a lot of ruckus regarding this bill. Even today there is doubt about many provisions of this bill. It is being said that this bill is giving exemption to the government to take personal information of the people. Which is a violation of the 2017 Supreme Court decision. The Supreme Court had considered privacy as a fundamental right.

People gave lots of suggestions

Officials told that usually only 1500-2000 suggestions were received. But this time more than 20000 feedback messages have been received. The bill will be placed in the monsoon session of Parliament. There is bound to be an uproar in this too. Because the opposition is already alleging that through this bill the government will get the right to get the personal information of the people easily. In the condition of anonymity, an official told that while making this bill, the government has kept in mind the General Data Protection Regulation of Europe.
