CBI Director: Committee headed by PM Modi selected three names for CBI Chief, why did Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary object

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary has objected to the selected names as well as appealed to consider women officers and minority community officers.

A selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shortlisted three names for the post of CBI chief. An important meeting of this committee was held on Saturday in which three names were shortlisted. However, during this time the opposition member Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary present in the panel objected to these three names.

According to the information, Congress leader in Loksabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary has objected to the process of shortlisting the names and has demanded to redo the entire process. According to the Indian Express report, all the three shortlisted names have been sent to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Shortlisted these three names

These include Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Praveen Sood, Madhya Pradesh DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena and Director General of Fire Services, Civil Defense and Home Guard Taj Hasan.

DOPT had sent a list of 115 names

According to the report, DoPT had earlier sent a list of 115 names for the post of CBI Chief. Some of these officers were also involved who were not included in the panel. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary pointed out the same thing and said that neither he has received information about the service records of these officers nor about personal details and integrity documents.

According to the report, the CJI said that out of these candidates should be selected on the basis of their experience and seniority, after which more than a dozen names were struck off. The CJI was the third member of the committee headed by PM Modi. According to the information, Chaudhary objected to the selected names and said that the list was not prepared properly. In this case the whole process has to be done again. He suggested that for this the government should also consider women officers and officers from minority communities.
