A bench of Justices Mukesh Rasibhai Shah and CT Ravikumar took cognizance of this affidavit of Lalit Modi.

Bench warns Lalit Modi

When the matter came up for hearing, the bench said that we accept the unconditional apology tendered by Lalit Modi. However, the bench also said that we also warn the defendant that if in future there is an attempt on his part to tarnish the image of the Indian judiciary and the court, then the court will take it very seriously.

The bench also said that since the court believes in forgiving, we wholeheartedly accept the unconditional and sincere apology tendered by Lalit Modi. We close the contempt proceedings against him. The bench said that our only concern is that everyone in the country should respect the institution.
