Chinese scientists discovered 800 million years old mysterious 'necklace'

Necklace Fossils:
Researchers of NIGPAS in China have made a discovery, in which advanced scientific research techniques have been used. Researchers have identified the fossils in the investigation as a type of benthos.

Every day some or the other research comes out in the world, which gives new information. Many times people do not even believe that such things used to happen earlier. In fact, Chinese scientists have discovered an 800 million year old necklace-like fossil, which is being discussed a lot. Its samples have recently been discovered by scientists in Shandong and Anhui provinces of East China. Scientists are calling it a mysterious ancient fossil and it has an unusual form. Actually, it looks like a necklace. The special thing is that the pearl-like dots (pearls) which are visible in this fossil have been found at an equal distance. It looks as if someone has measured and fitted it.

This discovery was made by researchers from the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGPAS). Pang Ke, the head of this research, says that Horodiskia fossils have been found of two different sizes. The diameter of the largest 'pearl' is about 5 millimetres, while the diameter of the smaller one is less than 1 millimetre.

Advance scientific research techniques have been used in this research project. It has been told that light microscopy measurement, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and elemental mapping have been used for this. Researchers have identified the fossils in the investigation as a type of benthos. Benthos is a term that is used to categorize organisms. These creatures live on the bottom of the sea and most fall under the category of "algae".

Early life can be understood from the patterns of Horodiskia

Pang says they also discovered Horodiscia "beads" that were encased in an organic outer layer. The Horodiskia fossil is not the oldest fossil ever found. These are most commonly found in rocks like sandstone. This unique shape and growth pattern of Horodiscia is an important one for the evolution and observation of early life.
