Modi-Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Friendship Pipeline, Modi said – a new chapter has begun


India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the India-Bangladesh diesel pipeline today. According to media reports, this pipeline has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 377 crore.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline through video conferencing today i.e. on Saturday . PM Modi said on this occasion that its foundation was laid in 2018. Today it was also inaugurated with the help of PM Sheikh Hasina. He said that with the help of this pipeline, one million metric tonnes of high speed diesel can be supplied to various cities of northern Bangladesh.

The PM said that it is a matter of satisfaction that the work on this project continued despite the Corona pandemic. He said that Bangladesh has made remarkable progress under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's many works done in the last few years and under her efficient leadership. Today every Indian is proud of this and we are happy that we have been able to contribute to this development journey of Bangladesh. He said that there is full confidence that this pipeline will further accelerate the development of Bangladesh and will also be an excellent example of increasing connectivity between the two countries.

Big help from rail network at the time of Corona

The PM told that for many years PM Hasina had discussed with him about his vision of restoring the pre-1965 rail connectivity. Since that time both the countries have worked together and made progress on it. He said that as a result of this, during the Corona epidemic, we were able to send oxygen and other things to Bangladesh with the help of rail network.

The PM told that India is supplying more than 1100 MW of electricity to Bangladesh. Let us tell you that the first unit of Maitri Super Thermal Power Project has started. It was inaugurated during PM Sheikh Hasina's visit to India last year. According to Modi, work on its second unit will also start very soon.

Better example

Modi said that what an auspicious coincidence, this inauguration is happening on the next day of the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He said that Shonar Bangla vision of Bangabandhu included friendly development and prosperity of the entire region. This joint project is a better example of his vision. According to media reports, this pipeline has been completed at a cost of Rs 377 crore.
