Last day he was admitted to MM Hospital in Borivali in Mumbai, where he died. Sameer is known for the television show Nukkad. He played the character named 'Khopdi' in this serial, which was well-liked.
Sameer Khakhar's brother Ganesh spoke to a website and said, “Yesterday morning he was having trouble breathing. We called the doctor and he said that he has to be admitted to the hospital. We took him to the hospital and admitted him in the ICU. Many of his organs had stopped working and he died at 4.30 am today.

Sameer Khakhar also worked in Salman Khan's film Jai Ho in the year 2014. In his career, he worked in serials like Manoranjan, Circus, Shriman Shrimati and Adalat.
