T20 World Cup: India beat Pakistan in an exciting match, started with victory in T20 World Cup


India vs Pakistan Highlights, Women T20 World Cup: The Indian team started with a win in the Women's T20 World Cup-2023. Playing under the captaincy of experienced Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 7 wickets in their first match of this ICC tournament. The Pakistani team scored 149 runs for 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, after which India achieved the target by losing 3 wickets with 6 balls to spare.

Match-winning performance from Jemima

Jemima Rodrigues was the biggest contributor to this victory of the Indian team. He was also chosen as the player of the match. Jemima came out to bat at number-3 in the match and froze at the crease. He put a lot of class on Pakistani bowlers and scored a brilliant half-century. Jemima returned unbeaten only after winning. He hit 8 fours in his unbeaten innings of 53 off 38 balls. Jemima hit 3 fours in the 19th over of Fatima Sana's innings. He gave the team victory by hitting fours on the last 2 balls of the over. Jemima made an unbeaten partnership of 58 runs for the fourth wicket with wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh (31 not out). Richa hit 5 fours in 20 balls.

Shefali also showed strength

Chasing the target of 150 runs, the Indian team lost its first wicket at the score of 38. Yastika Bhatia (17) was caught by Sadia Iqbal at the hands of Fatima Sana on the third ball of the sixth over of the innings. He hit 2 fours in 20 balls. After this, Shefali Verma took the innings forward with Jemima Rodrigues. Nashra Sandhu made Shefali the victim in the 10th over of the innings. He scored 33 runs in 25 balls hitting 4 fours. Jemima remained frozen at one end and returned unbeaten after winning. 

Magnificent fifty from Maroof

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. The team scored 149 runs losing 4 wickets thanks to the brilliant innings of its captain Bismah Maroof, but India won the match by scoring 151 runs in 3 wickets in 19 overs. Maroof came out to bat at number three and returned unbeaten after scoring 68 runs off 55 balls. He made an unbroken 81-run partnership for the fifth wicket in just 7.5 overs with Ayesha Naseem (43 not out). Pakistan's innings revolved around these two batsmen.

Radha Yadav's 'double'

Pakistan's Ayesha hit 2 sixes and as many fours in her unbeaten innings of 25 balls. Apart from these two, Muniba Ali scored 12 runs and Sidra Amin scored 11 runs. For India, Radha Yadav took 2 wickets for 21 runs while Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar got 1-1 wickets. The next match of the Indian team will be played against the West Indies on the same ground on 15 February.
