Robots Research: How much domestic work will be done by robots in the next 10 years? AI experts told, also mentioned this danger

Robots in Domestic Chores Research: Experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have estimated that within a decade, 39 percent of domestic chores and care of loved ones will be done by robots. Researchers from the UK and Japan asked 65 artificial intelligence experts to estimate the level of automation in common household tasks over 10 years.

Experts have predicted that automation is likely to be used more in grocery stores while artificial intelligence is expected to have less impact in care of the young and elderly. This research regarding the robot has been published in PLOS ONE journal.

How will robots affect unpaid household chores?

Researchers from the University of Oxford (Ochanomizu University) and Ochanomizu University in Japan wanted to know what effect robots could have on unpaid domestic work. He asked that if robots take the jobs, will they also clean the garbage from the houses? The researchers found that robots for household tasks such as vacuum cleaners have become the most widely manufactured and sold in the world. The team of universities asked 29 AI experts from Britain and 36 from Japan about their predictions on robots in homes.

Expert opinion on automation

Experts told that automation can work in different ways. Dr Lulu Xi, postdoctoral researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute, said: "Only 28 per cent of care tasks are predicted to be automated, including teaching your child, walking with a child or caring for an older family member." On the other hand, technology is expected to cut the time taken for grocery shopping by 60 per cent, experts said.

must face this danger

Ekaterina Hertog, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Society at Oxford University, said that there is a big question of protecting privacy in the time of automation. He said that everything is recorded on automation devices like Alexa. Due to this, every action has come under the ambit of surveillance in a way. As automation is progressing, there is a threat to human privacy. He said that by the end of the decade it would be difficult for people to preserve their privacy.
