Avni, a BTech in Computer Science, is one of the first three women fighter pilots who were inducted into the IAF in June 2016.

Squadron Leader Avni Chaturvedi , who created history by becoming the first woman fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force and participated in aerial exercises abroad, has given a big statement. Avni Chaturvedi says that flying fighter aircraft is very exciting and there are immense possibilities of success for the youth who want to make a career in the Air Force. Avni, a Su-30 MKI pilot, was part of the Indian Air Force (IAF) fleet participating in a 16-day exercise with the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) at Hyakuri Air Force Base in Japan from January 12 to 26.

Speaking to PTI, Avni said, "Participating in aerial exercises has always been a great experience. This time it was even more special, because for the first time I was involved in an international exercise. It was a great learning opportunity and an amazing experience for me. Veer Guardian-2023 was the first such exercise between the IAF and JASDF, which focused on developing air combat capability, learning the art of intercepting aircraft and carrying out air defense missions.

Avni said, I want to tell all the youth that there are immense possibilities of success for you. IAF is a great career option and flying fighter planes is really exciting. When Avni was asked how difficult was the path for her to become a fighter pilot, she said, “I would like to say to all the aspirants who want to make a career in IAF that you should keep your eyes on the target and go ahead with determination. should increase.

Avni had joined IAF in 2016.

Avni said, this exercise has given us a better opportunity to learn from each other. The effort is to understand each other's work philosophy, planning process or any good practice in general. This is a great mutual learning exercise.

According to officials, women fighter pilots of the Indian Air Force have taken part in several aerial exercises within the country, but this was the first time that one of them (Avni) got a chance to participate in the exercise abroad.
