Flood of devotees at Bholenath's court, millions of devotees worshiped like this on Mahashivaratri - Photos

Mahashivratri 2023:
Lakhs of devotees worshiped Lord Shiva in the famous temples of the country on Mahashivaratri. In Prayagraj, where lakhs of devotees took bath in the river Ganga, the Shiv-Parvati Yatra was taken out in Bhopal. Let's see how people worshiped on Mahashivratri.

Lakhs of devotees bathe in the Ganges on the day of Mahashivratri at Sangam in Prayagraj. According to religious beliefs, taking a bath in the Ganges on this day washes away all the sins of the seeker, as well as brings happiness and prosperity.

Shiv Yatra was taken out in Bhopal by decorating artists as Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. People organize such events to express their reverence for Lord Shiva and his family.

The worship of Nandi, the vehicle of Lord Shiva, also has special significance. It is believed that Lord Shiva spends most of his time in meditative posture, so devotees speak their wishes in Nandi's ears which directly reach Lord Shiva.

A huge crowd of devotees was also seen in Tapeshwar Mahadev Temple of Dehradun on Mahashivratri. For special worship of Lord Shiva, people offered Belpatra, Coconut, Dhatura etc. on Shivling. According to religious beliefs, offering these things on Mahashivaratri is considered very auspicious.

Devotees were seen performing Shiva Aarti on Mahashivaratri in Moradabad. According to religious beliefs, it is considered very necessary to perform aarti after completing all the rituals in Mahashivratri worship. Worship is considered incomplete without Aarti.

In Jammu too, many devotees went to the Shiva temple and offered prayers. Many devotees were seen performing Abhishek on the Shivling in the Rajeshwar temple located here. (All photos - PTI)
