The company made many changes after privatization

Air India's Chief Commercial and Transformation Officer Nipun Agarwal said in a LinkedIn post that the airline is humbled by the enthusiasm seen across the globe for the order placed by the airline. He told that this order of 840 aircraft has been placed under the process that started with the privatization of Air India two years ago. He said that under the order, 470 aircraft will be purchased from Airbus and Boeing in the next decade, while it includes the option to buy 370 aircraft.

This will be one of the largest aircraft orders placed by an airline in modern aviation history. The official said that this order is a 'historic moment' for the Indian aviation industry. A day before this, the airline had said that it has awarded a contract for 470 aircraft, out of which 250 aircraft will be purchased from Airbus and 220 aircraft from Boeing. He said that we have also signed deals with CFM International (CFM), Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for maintenance of engines.

Airline deals with Airbus

Aggarwal said that this contract shows the Tata group's goal of turning Air India into a world class airline and connecting India directly to every major city in the world. The Tata Group-owned airline will buy 40 wide-body A350s and 210 small-body aircraft from Airbus.

In an online meeting, Chandrasekaran said that a deal has been signed with Airbus for the purchase of these aircraft. Apart from others, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron were also present in this meeting. Tata Group had acquired Air India in January last year. After this acquisition, Tata Group is taking different measures to take this airline forward.
