Bhattacharya also announced that under the Vidhayak Elaka Unnayan Prakalp, the allocation of annual funds to MLAs for local area development has been increased from Rs 60 lakh to Rs 70 lakh for the next financial year.

State government employees had demonstrated

Earlier in November 2022, state government employees protested outside the West Bengal Legislative Assembly in Kolkata. He has demanded an increase in dearness allowance at par with the central government employees. He also claimed that the state government has not yet paid the revised dearness allowance since the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission.

Let us tell you that the state's Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya has presented a total budget of Rs 3.39 lakh crore for the financial year 2023-24 in the assembly. The budget has also proposed to waive agricultural income tax on tea gardens for two years and provide loan facility to young entrepreneurs. He said that the State Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to grow at the rate of 8.4 per cent in the financial year 2022-23, while the growth rate of the industry will be 7.8 per cent.

Big announcements for youth and farmers in the budget

While reading the budget speech, Bhattacharya said that she proposes Rs 3.39 lakh crore in the budget for the financial year 2023-24. He further said that a fund of Rs 350 crore will be created to give loans of Rs five lakh each to two lakh young entrepreneurs.

Announcing relief for distressed tea gardens and rural areas before the Panchayat elections, the Finance Minister has said that agricultural income tax on tea gardens will be waived for 2023-24 and 2024-25. Along with this, 11,500 km of roads will be built in rural areas at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore. Apart from this, a proposal has been made in the budget to completely waive the fee on the supply of irrigation water to the farmers.
