Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023: Congress announced its third guarantee on Friday. The party talked about giving 10 kg of rice free of cost every month to every member of the BPL family under the Anna Bhagya scheme.

As the Karnataka assembly elections approach, political parties have started making announcements to woo the voters. The Congress announced its third guarantee on Friday. The party talked about giving 10 kg of rice free of cost every month to every member of the BPL family under the Anna Bhagya scheme . This is the third big announcement of the Congress. Earlier, the party has made two guarantee announcements.

It has already been announced to give 200 units of free electricity to each house under Griha Jyoti Yojana and Rs 2,000 guarantee in houses owned by women under 'Griha Lakshmi Yojana'.

State Congress President DK Shivakumar and Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah announced the party's third guarantee at a press conference on Friday. State Congress President DK Shivakumar says, Congress wants to make Karnataka a starvation-free state. The party will double the quantity of rice given to the poor.

How much will be the savings and how much will the burden increase?

Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah says, currently 6 kg rice is being given to BPL card holders under Anna Bhagya Yojana, now after the announcement of the party, 10 kg rice will be given. Due to this, an additional amount of 4 to 5 thousand rupees will be required. But this is not an issue. Our aim is that no one sleeps hungry in the state.

He said, our government had decided that the people here would be given up to 30 kg of rice at the rate of Re 1 per kg and 7 kg of rice would be given free of cost to every household member of BPL card holders. But after the BJP came to power, this quantity was reduced to 5 kg.

Amit Shah targeted

State Congress President of Karnataka, Shivakumar says that the Congress's promise of 200 units of free electricity will result in a monthly savings of Rs 1,500 per family. He rejected Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement that all was not well between him and Siddaramaiah. He said, am I in the wrestling arena with Siddaramaiah? The fight is within the BJP.

Referring to several other statements made by BJP leaders, he said – Why did BS Yeddyurappa have to shed tears? What did Basangouda Patil Yatnal say about Murugesh Nirani? What have H Vishwanath and Golihatti Shekhar said about the government?
