Narayan S Bhat, a resident of Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district, was born in the year 1953. Bhat joined Government Polytechnic College in Karwar in 1973 and completed Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 2nd rank. But his passion for studies is such that even today he goes to college like an ordinary student.

Work experience in multiple companies

Narayan S Bhat retired from Ballarpur Industries now known as Solaris Chemtech Limited in 2008 after working with several companies in Gujarat and other states. He has continued to work as a civil contractor in Sirsi.

Narayan says that he had experience in doing civil work after the 2001 Gujarat earthquake. But when they started building houses for the people, they did not have the signature authority. It turned out to be a big hurdle, so he thought why not study. So that I do not have to stand in front of anyone to take my signature.

Daughters are engineers abroad

Narayan Bhat has 2 daughters. One software engineer in Ireland and the other in America. When Narayan was about 67 years old, Bhat called his two daughters, to announce his decision to return to college. Narayan says that I took all of them on a conference call and shared my decision with them. They were happy that I would be busy.

Narayan stood first in civil engineering and 10th in the overall category. Even after retiring, he neither stopped his studies nor stopped working. Presently also he is working as a civil contractor.
