According to ANI , a recent study conducted in the US has revealed that intermittent fasting can affect the reproductive hormones of women. This research was done under the direction of Professor Krista Varadi of the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Overweight pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women were included in this study. All these women did intermittent fasting for about 8 weeks and on the basis of this, the researchers prepared the results of the research. It was found that there was a decline of 14% in the level of DHEA hormone of these women. It improves ovarian function. Simply put, intermittent fasting affects the reproductive health of women to a great extent.

What is Intermittent Fasting?

Intermittent fasting is a technique of weight loss, which is very much in trend these days. Intermittent fasting is an eating plan in which people eat food at a fixed time throughout the day, while fasting for the rest of the time. In intermittent fasting, a pattern of eating is created, with the most prevalent being the 16:8 pattern. Under this pattern, a person can take food and other nutrients only during 8 hours of the day, while fasting has to be done by drinking water only for the remaining 16 hours. Some people eat only 4 hours a day and fast for 20 hours. This is called the 20:4 fasting window.

If someone is suffering from illness or any other problem, then he should get his health checkup done before doing intermittent fasting and should do so only after consulting a doctor.
