World Sight Day: Headache is not just a neuro problem, it is also a symptom of eye disease

Many cases of glaucoma are seen in diseases that occur in the eyes. In this disease the optic nerve of the eye gets damaged. This problem is usually more common in elderly people.

Due to the corona epidemic , people stayed in homes for a long time. Due to this the use of laptops and phones increased significantly. Eyes also suffered due to spending hours on screen. Due to which the cases of eye disease increased. People started having problems of myopia, glaucoma and dry eyes. Doctors say that the symptoms of most eye diseases are known even in the beginning, but people ignore them and come to the hospital when the situation becomes serious.

Dr AK Grover, HOD of the Department of Ophthalmology, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, says that many cases of glaucoma are seen in eye diseases. In this disease the optic nerve of the eye gets damaged. This problem is usually more common in elderly people. Its symptoms can also be easily detected. If someone has blurred vision, dry eyes and headache, then these are symptoms of glaucoma. In such a situation, eye doctors should be consulted.

Headache is not just a neurological problem

Dr Grover says that many times people get headaches due to eye problems, but they are treating it as a neuro disease. So in many cases this problem cannot be solved. According to Dr, having a headache can be a sign of some eye disease.

According to Dr., weakness in the muscles of the eyes also causes headache. It can also be a symptom of glaucoma. Therefore, it is important that in case of headache, you must also consult the doctor of the eye.

Trouble spending time on screen

Dr Rishi Raj Borah says that spending time in front of the screen has become very important in our life these days. This is causing many problems to our eyes. When the screen is in front of the eyes, the eyes need to work more, so keeping the screen at an arm's distance can reduce eye strain. In this case, reduce the brightness of your screen. Try to keep taking breaks in between.

While working on the screen, you can follow the 20, 20, 20 rule to give rest to the eyes. After every 20 minutes, focus on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This will give great relief to the eyes.
