Always remember 10 important rules while performing Shradh for ancestors

In the Sanatan tradition, for the salvation and blessings of ancestors, the rituals of Shradh and Tarpan should be known before doing it during Pitru Paksha.

In Hinduism, from the full moon of the month of Bhadrapada to the new moon of the month of Ashwin, there is a Pitru Paksha associated with the worship and worship of ancestors. To get rid of the debt of the ancestors, for these 16 days, the ancestors should be offered water for reverence. It is believed that on Pitru Paksha with reverence, the blessings of the ancestors are obtained by worshiping, tarpan, shraddha, donation etc. for the ancestors. In the scriptures, some important rules related to Shradh during Pitru Paksha have been given for the salvation and blessings of ancestors. Let us know what rules we should follow while performing Shradh and Tarpan for the ancestors during Pitru Paksha.

  1. Often the question arises in the minds of people that after all, which time or date is best for Tarpan and Shradh. According to the scriptures, the date which is in Kutup Bela, the Shradh is performed on that date. Qutup Bela day is called the time from 11:36 am to 12:24 am.
  2. It is believed that not only the Shradh performed during the Qutup period, but also the one given for the ancestors is very best. In such a situation, donations should be made for the ancestors in the mid-day.
  3. According to the scriptures, the eldest son has the first right to perform Shradh or tarpan for the ancestors. In the absence of which his younger son or daughter or daughter-son-in-law and grandson can also perform Shradh for them.
  4. If someone does not have a son, then his unmarried daughter can also perform Shradh for her parents.
  5. If a person does not have a son, then his daughter-in-law can also perform Shradh for her mother-in-law or her husband.
  6. For the Shradh of ancestors, the afternoon is considered better than the forenoon. Whereas Shradh of ancestors should not be done in the evening or at night even after forgetting the tarpan.
  7. According to the scriptures, Shradh for ancestors should never be done on the land of others. If someone does not have a house of his own, then he can go to the temple, place of pilgrimage etc.
  8. Manglik works like marriage, shaving, engagement and home entry should not be done during Pitru Paksha.
  9. During Pitru Paksha, one should follow celibacy completely and do not forget to consume tamasic things.
  10. One should not take pride in the donations made or the food offered during Shradh.
