This 'worm' became the enemy of life, deaths due to 'mysterious' fever… know everything about it


According to the CDC, scrub typhus is caused by a bacteria called Orientia Tsutsugamushi. This bacteria is spread by the bite of chiggers.

With the arrival of the rainy season, the outbreak of mosquito-borne diseases starts increasing. Dengue, Chikungunya and Malaria are such deadly diseases. These days there is an outbreak of dengue, chikungunya and malaria in different districts of Uttar Pradesh. Children are dying after getting a mysterious type of fever. The situation is most serious in Firazabad, where according to government figures, more than 50 deaths have taken place.

Firozabad Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) Dinesh Kumar said on Friday morning that so far 50 people have died of dengue and fever in the district. A total of 3,719 patients are undergoing treatment in 9 tehsils and one municipal corporation area, out of which 2,533 are suffering from fever. At the same time, the situation is serious in many districts including Mathura, Jhansi, Oraiya. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has visited the district and has given instructions to set up special health camps.

What is this deadly fever?

The corona virus infection is not over yet that this mysterious deadly fever has increased everyone's concern. This mysterious fever that has killed more than 60 people across the state has been identified as Scrub Typhus. This fever, which is spread by the bite of chiggers i.e. larval mites, is spreading in many districts of UP. Firozabad has the highest number of cases of this fever, while such cases have also been reported in Agra, Mainpuri, Etah, Jhansi, Auraiya, Kanpur, Saharanpur and Kasganj.

How is scrub typhoid fever spread?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Scrub Typhus fever is also known as Shrub Types. This disease is caused by a bacteria named Orientia Tsutsugamushi. This bacteria is spread through the bite of infected chiggers (larval mites). By entering the body, this bacteria makes a person sick. The disease starts to become serious within 10 days after the bite of chiggers.

What are the symptoms of this disease?

Symptoms in scrub typhus usually appear within 10 days. Chiggers infected with the Orientia Tsutsugamushi bacteria spread the infection within 10 days of being bitten and cause symptoms. Its symptoms are:

  • fever in infected person
  • running nose
  • Headache
  • body and muscle aches
  • to be irritable
  • rash on body

Special health camps will be organized

In view of the increasing outbreak of this disease, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Principal Secretary (Medical Education) to organize special health camps in Agra and Firozabad districts. Instructions have also been given to keep isolation beds with oxygen facility reserved for Kovid patients available for treatment of viral diseases including dengue. The team of Health Department is engaged in the arrangement.

In Firozabad, the number of victims of viral fever and dengue is increasing continuously. District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh had suspended three doctors with immediate effect late on Thursday evening due to negligence during the outbreak of the disease. He has made Chief Development Officer Chachit Gaur as the nodal officer and is trying to control the situation by running an awareness campaign.
