It is necessary to link PAN-Aadhaar, but these people have got exemption! View full list here

It has been made mandatory by the government to link PAN card with Aadhaar.
The government had made it mandatory to link PAN-Aadhaar a long time ago and its last date has been extended several times. Earlier the last date for linking Aadhaar with PAN was 30 June, which has now been extended by three months to 30 September 2021. According to the information given by the government, people may find it difficult to link Aadhaar by the last date and their PAN card can also be made active.

But now there are many people who have not linked PAN card with Aadhaar. If you have not done this too, then do it as soon as possible. But, do you know that some people have also been given exemption in this rule. In such a situation, if some people do not link PAN card-Aadhaar, then action will not be taken against them. In such a situation, know who are those people, who have been given exemption in this rule…

Who got the discount?

Actually, according to the information shared by State Bank of India, people living in the Union Territories of Assam, Meghalaya, Jammu and Kashmir have been exempted from this. Apart from these, the non-residents mentioned as per the Income Tax Act 1961 are also exempted. Also, people who have turned 80 years or more last year, they are kept out of this rule. Those who are not citizens of India also do not need to link Aadhaar and PAN card.

How to link Aadhaar-PAN?

The easiest way to link Aadhaar with PAN online is to visit the new Income Tax website. Visit the new https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal. After this click on 'Link Aadhar' from the facilities available there. A new page will open. In this, you have to fill PAN, Aadhaar number, your name and mobile number present on Aadhaar. If only year of birth is written in your Aadhaar, then you have to tick this option- 'I have only year of birth in Aadhaar card'.

After this, confirm by ticking the box in front of 'I agree to validate my Aadhaar details'. Then click on 'Link Aadhaar'. After this a confirmation page will open. In this you will see that your Aadhaar number has been successfully generated from PAN.

What will happen if Aadhaar is not linked?

Apart from these few people, it is mandatory for all people to get PAN-Aadhaar linked. If you also do not fall in any of the above categories, then it is mandatory for you to link Aadhaar- PAN card. Actually, if your PAN is not linked with Aadhaar, then you may have to face problems in financial service. This will not only cause problems regarding your income tax, while you may also find it difficult to take advantage of the bank's service. Along with this, penalty will also have to be paid for reactivation of PAN card, so get Aadhaar linked as soon as possible.
