Delta Plus Variant In India: 40 patients found in the country, the central government gave this advice

Delta Plus Variant In India: The Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday that about 40 cases of Delta Plus Variant have been reported in Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh.
It is classified as a 'Concern Form' (VOC).

The ministry said that apart from Delta, all the sub-lineages of Delta including Delta Plus have been kept in the category of VOC.

"After sequencing more than 45,000 samples in India so far, about 40 cases of Delta Plus form - AY.1 - have been reported elsewhere in Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh and in its presence," the ministry said in a statement. No significant increase has been seen.''

These three states have been advised to increase vigilance and take appropriate public health related steps. Public Health England (PHE) had reported AY.1 on June 11, after which analysis of samples revealed that the first case of infection of this form was found in the sample collected from Maharashtra. This sample was collected on April 5.

As of June 18, 205 sequences of the AI.1 variant were detected worldwide, of which 50 per cent were detected in the US and UK, the statement said.

The Indian SARS Cove-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) recently identified this variant of the virus (Delta, b.1.617.2). This form has also been found in nine other countries of the world. INSACOG is a group of National Laboratories constituted by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. INSACOG is tracing new forms of the virus and their relationship to the pandemic.

The World Health Organization has classified the virus as VOC (Variants of Concern) and VOI (Variants of Interest) in view of the many forms of virus that have emerged around the world. According to the statement, the Delta variant as well as all the variants of the Delta lineage including Delta Plus have been placed in the VOC.

INSACOG reports the evolution of the delta plus form (B.1.617.2) + (SARS-CoV2) K417N lineage, called B.1.617.2.1/AY.1.

In a statement, the ministry said, "All Delta sub-lines are considered VOCs, although AY.1 is still under investigation. At present, there are few cases of AY.1 in India. Most cases of AY.1 have been reported in nine countries in Europe, Asia and America.
