The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday claimed that India became the second country after America to cross corona vaccination coverage to 200 million people. The ministry has claimed that 42 per cent of the population above the age of 60 years has received the first dose of vaccine. India has achieved the milestone in the vaccine campaign.
The ministry said that according to the data available till 26 am on May 26, 20 crore 6 lakh 62 thousand 456 people have been vaccinated with the corona vaccine. Out of this, the first dose of 15 crore 71 lakh 49 thousand 593 and the second dose of corona has been put on 4 crore 35 lakh 12 thousand 863.
200 million people got corona vaccine in 130 days
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that India is the second country after US to get this coverage in just 130 days. The USA took 124 days to reach the 200 million mark, while India took only 6 days more. In addition, according to data available on our world in data and several news articles, the Kovid-19 vaccination campaign includes the UK among other major countries, reaching 5.1 million points in 168 days, Brazil 5.9 million points in 128 days And Germany which reached the 45 million mark in 149 days.
42 percent of people older than 60 get vaccinated
According to new data available with the Union Health Ministry, so far, more than 34 percent of the population above 45 years of the country has received at least the first dose of Kovid-19 vaccine. Similarly, more than 42 percent of the population over 60 years of age in India has received at least the first dose of the Kovid-19 vaccine.
The positivity rate is decreasing in the country
The third phase of corona vaccination began on May 1, 2021. Meanwhile, the daily corona positivity rate in India has reduced and is now 9.42 percent. In the last 24 hours, 2 lakh 8 thousand 921 new corona cases were reported in the country and 4 thousand 157 patients died.
