If You Are Kidney Stone Patients, Don't Eat These Things by mistake, Otherwise You Will Be Big Trouble

If you have ever had a kidney stone problem or a family member has had a kidney stone problem, you know how unbearable the pain can be.
Sometimes it seems impossible for the patient to bear the pain. Kidney stone is a disease that can recur. About 50% of patients have a second kidney stone problem within 6-7 years once the kidney stone problem is cured. So it is very important to be careful, especially when it comes to eating and drinking.

Kidney stone problems occur when small crystals accumulate in the urine and take the form of stones. Kidney stone problems can also occur when the calcium in the urine is mixed with chemicals such as oxalate or phosphorus. In addition, the accumulation of uric acid in the kidneys can often lead to stone problems. If you do not want to suffer from kidney stones, consume only a limited amount of these foods and if you have never had a kidney stone problem before, you should avoid consuming these items.

  1. Spinach: - Spinach is an excellent source of iron and is also rich in many vitamins and minerals but you should avoid eating spinach if you have kidney stones. This is because spinach contains oxalate which binds to the calcium in the blood and the kidneys cannot filter it out and it cannot pass out of the body through the urine which causes stones in the kidneys.
  2. Items that are high in oxalate: - Apart from spinach, foods like beets, oats, raspberries, sweet potatoes, tea, nuts, chocolate are also high in oxalate. If a patient has a kidney stone problem, the doctor advises the patient not to eat anything with oxalate or to eat only in limited quantities.
  3. Chicken, Fish, Eggs: - Red meat, chicken, poultry, fish and eggs are some of the foods that have the highest amount of animal protein and high intake of these items increases the production of uric acid in the body. Although protein is very important for our body, we should consume plant based sources of protein instead of animal protein, such as tofu, kinwa, chia seeds and Greek yogurt.
  4. Minimal salt: - Salt contains sodium and high levels of sodium help in the accumulation of calcium in the urine. So avoid adding salt to food. In addition, chips, frozen foods, etc., which are high in salt, should also be avoided.
  5. Cola or soft drink: - Cola is high in a chemical called phosphate which is likely to cause kidney stones. So do not consume processed foods and drinks with too much sugar or sugar syrup. Not only salt but also many sugars like sucrose and fructose increase the risk of kidney stones.
