Smokers vegetarians o blood group people less susceptible to coronavirus covid 19

New Delhi. There is a situation of panic in the country due to Coronavirus infection. A large number of cases of corona infection (Covid 19) are being reported daily in every state including Maharashtra, Delhi and UP. Along with this, a large number of people are also dying. Meanwhile, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) recently released a study report that claimed that smokers, vegetarians and people with blood group 'O' (Blood Group O) People are less likely to get infected with the corona virus.

Smokers and vegetarians have been found to have lower sero-positivity, according to a CSO survey conducted by CSIR in nearly 40 of its institutions, indicating that they may be at lower risk of getting infected with the corona virus. The survey also found that people with blood group 'O' may be less susceptible to infection, while those with 'B' and 'AB' blood groups may be at greater risk. Explain that sero-positivity means positive results for immunity in blood test.

CSIR took samples on a voluntary basis to 10,427 youth and their family members working in their laboratories or institutes to assess the presence of antibodies to the corona virus.

The study, conducted by the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), stated that 1,058 (10.14 per cent) out of 10,427 individuals had antibodies to the SARS-COV-2 virus. Shantanu Sengupta, senior scientist and co-author of the study at IGIB, said that after three months of testing of 346 sero-positive individuals in the samples, it was found that the antibody level for SARS-COV-2 ranged from stable to high but A drop in plasma activity was observed to neutralize the virus.

He said that when re-sampled in six months of 35 persons, the antibody levels were seen to decline compared to three months, while the neutralizing antibody levels were seen to be stable. However the level of neutralizing antibodies was higher than required with normal antibodies. The study notes that our conclusion that smokers are less likely to be sero-positive is the first report from the general population and evidence that smoking may be preventive despite Kovid-19 having respiratory disease .

The study cites two studies from France and similar reports from Italy, New York and China that reported lower rates of infection among smokers. Let us know that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also claimed in recent research that it has studied over 7000 Corona positive people in America. Out of this, only 1.3 percent people turned out to be cigarette smokers. At the same time researchers from University College London have also studied about 28 research papers from Britain, China, France and America. In this, he has claimed that the number of people who smoke in the corona infected hospital admitted is very low.

On the other hand, the survey scientists conducted by CSIR across India have warned that this is just observation and more research is needed. Director of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research of Genomics and Integrated Biology and survey author Anurag Aggarwal said that smoking is bad for health. The relationship between vegetarianism, smoking and low covid-19 sero-positivity is merely mentioned.
