Prahlada's father Hiranyakashyap pleased Brahma ji by doing hard penance and asked him a boon that no human could kill him, nor beast, nor should he be killed in the day nor in the night, nor by the attack of the weapon and Neither can be killed by weapons, nor inside the house nor outside the house.
After receiving this boon, he began to think of himself as immortal. He started torturing people and started thinking of himself as God. He prohibited the worship of Lord Vishnu in his kingdom. But his son Prahlada was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. Even after stopping her many times, Prahlada did not stop worshiping God.
Angered by this, Prahlada was greatly harassed by Hiranyakashyam. Tried to kill him several times, but each time Prahlada survived. He also kept Prahlada in the fire with his sister Holika because Holika had the boon of not burning with fire, but by the grace of Lord Vishnu Prahlada survived and Holika died.
In the last attempt Hiranyakashyam turned an iron pillar hot and turned red and asked Prahlada to embrace him. Just then, the fierce form of Lord Narasimha unfurling that pillar was revealed. He placed Hiranyakashyap at the entrance of the palace, which was neither outside the house nor inside, at dusk, when there was neither day nor night, Narasimha form who was neither a man nor an animal. Lord Narasimha killed him with his sharp nails, which were neither weapons nor weapons, and gave life to Prahlada.
