Have you ever heard of two types of vegetables growing inside one plant ? Inside Shahjahanpur in Varanasi , a plant has been developed by the Indian Vegetable Research Institute in which two different types of vegetables grow. Potatoes and eggplants as well as eggplants and tomatoes are grown in this plant prepared by grafting method. You may be surprised to hear this, but this is a fact. The grafting method has grafted eggplant plants into tomato plants, allowing both vegetables to grow on the same plant. Potatoes and eggplants have been grafted in the same way.
The chief scientist of the institute who conducted this research, Dr. Anand Bahadur Singh said that this type of special plant is prepared inside the nursery at a temperature of 24-28 degrees without more than 85% humidity and light. After 15-20 days of grafting, it can be planted in any place outside the field. It then needs to be given the right amount of water and fertilizer. These plants bear fruit 60-70 days after planting.
The use of grafting method started in the year 2013-14. This method is expected to be of great benefit to the farmers. Especially in a place where water stays full for many days after rain. Initially, the plant was designed for people who live in the city and grow vegetables at home.
