Why Saturn gets relief from suffering by lighting a lamp under Peepal, learn mythology!

According to legend, at one time heaven was ruled by asuras. The monster named Kaitabh started destroying the yagna by taking the form of Peepal tree. Whenever a Brahmin went to the tree to break the twigs of the Peepal tree for Samidha, the monster would eat it. The sages could not understand how Brahmin Kumar was going to disappear.

The sages then went to seek help from Suryaputra Shani Dev. Shani Dev became a Brahmin and went to the Peepal tree and Catabh caught Shani Maharaj. After this there was a war between Shani and Catabh. Shani Maharaj killed Catabh. After this, the sages worshiped and worshiped Shani. After this, Shani told the sages that from now on, whoever will worship the Peepal tree on Saturday. A lamp of mustard oil will be lit in front of him, he will get relief from the suffering of Saturn.

Apart from this, according to another legend, the parents of Rishi Piplad, who is considered an incarnation of Lord Shiva, died in his childhood. After growing up, when Piplad came to know that his parents had died due to Shani's condition, he did austerity to teach Shani Dev a lesson. Pleasing Brahma with penance, he asked for Brahmand and asked him to go in search of Shani Dev. During this time, when he saw Shani Dev sitting on the Peepal tree, he hit him with a brahmand.

This broke both of Shani's legs. Being sad, Shanidev called Lord Shiva, then Lord Shiva appeared and pacified the anger of Piplad and protected Shani Dev's life. Since then, Shanidev started to fear Piplad. It is believed that Piplad was born under the Peepal tree and he meditated only after eating Peepal leaves. Therefore, on Saturday, who worships the Peepal tree, he is blessed by Rishi Piplad and Shani Dev does not harass him.
