In Hinduism, coconut is offered before performing any pooja recitation or auspicious work. 
According to astrology, the color of coconut is white and water represents the moon. Chadramma is considered to be a factor of mind. It is believed that the mind remains calm when the Moon is strong. You get success in working. It is considered auspicious to break coconut before any work in the house.

According to the scriptures, coconut is considered a symbol of Tridev. Also, keeping coconut in the worship keeps the grace of mother Lakshmi. Coconut has also been given importance in Vastu Shastra. It is said that by sprinkling coconut water, negative energy is removed. Apart from this, the Vastu defect of the house is also far away.

Why coconut is boiled before worship

Coconut is boiled before performing any auspicious task. The outer part of the coconut is believed to be a symbol of pride and the inside is considered a symbol of purity and peace. Apart from this, breaking the coconut does not cause any trouble, but it gives success and Barkat.

Mythological significance of coconut

According to the legend, Lord Vishnu had brought mother Lakshmi, coconut tree and Kamadhenu with him while incarnating on Earth. The coconut tree is also called Kalpavriksha. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh reside in this tree. Therefore, it is considered auspicious to use coconut in pooja lessons.
