Know the most expensive foreign and Indian players sold in IPL auction


South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris has become the most expensive player in IPL history. 
Morris was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 crore in the auction for IPL-2021 on Thursday.

Indian all-rounder Krishnappa Gautam was the most expensive Indian with a bid of Rs 9.25 crore. Gautam was bought by Chennai Super Kings. Kyle Jaminson (New Zealand) was the second most expensive player after Chris Morris. Jameson was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 15 crore. Similarly, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (Australia) was joined by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 14.25 crore.

Prior to Morris, the record for being the most expensive selling player in IPL history was in the name of Yuvraj Singh, who was bought by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals ) in 2015 for Rs 16 crore.

Australia's Jay Richardson was also very expensive in this year's auction. Richardson was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 14 crore. Riley Meredith of Australia was also an expensive player and he was also included in his team by Punjab Kings for Rs 8 crore.

Yuvraj had been the most expensive player in IPL history since 2015. But now Morrisney has replaced him. However, Australia's Pat Cummins was seen approaching Yuvraj in 2020 when he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 15.50 crore.

Prior to that, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir was among the most expensive players, bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 for Rs 14.90 crore. Kolkata later also made Gambhir the captain of the team and he also made Kolkata two times champions under his captaincy.

Apart from him, England all-rounder Ben Stokes was also among the expensive players, who were bought by Pune Rising Supergents in 2017 for 14.5 crores. Rajasthan was also bought by Stokes last year for Rs 12.5 crore.

Apart from him, in the 2021 auction, England all-rounder Moin Ali was given by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 7 crores, Shah Rukh Khan of India for Punjab Kings for Rs 5.25 crores, England's Tom Kuran was given by Delhi Capitals for Rs 5.25 crores, Australia's Nathan Coulter. Nile was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 5 crore, Shivam Dubey of India for Rs 4.40 crore by Rajasthan Royals and Moises Henriques of Australia for Rs 4.20 crore by Punjab Kings.
