USA vs CAN: Canada created history in T20 World Cup, broke 10-year-old record by scoring the highest score

History has been created in the very first match of the T20 World Cup 2024. In this match, Canada has scored the highest score as an Associate Nation. Batting first, it scored 194 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs, which is the highest score made by a team of an Associate Nation in the Men's T20 World Cup. In this case, Canada has broken a 10-year-old record. Canada's team scoring 194 runs means that now the US will have to score 195 runs to start its campaign with a win.

Before Canada, the associate country that scored the highest score in the Men's T20 World Cup was Netherlands, which scored 193 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs against Ireland 10 years ago, i.e. in 2014. But, Canada has broken that record against the American team, which is considered its biggest opponent. Through this match, both Canada and America have also made their debut in the T20 World Cup.

America will have to chase the biggest score to win

In the first match of ICC T20 World Cup 2024, America has the challenge of scoring 195 runs. America has never chased such a big score in T20 cricket so far. In such a situation, if they overcome this target and win the opening match of T20 World Cup 2024 against Canada, then by doing so they can also make a big record.

However, America's run chase against Canada did not start well. It lost its first wicket on the second ball of the innings. Kaleem Sana gave the first blow to America by dismissing Steven Taylor. During this time, not a single run was added to the score board.

Canada did strong batting

Earlier, the Canadian team displayed tremendous batting. Navneet Dhaliwal scored the highest 61 runs in 44 balls from their side. After that, Nicholas Kirton played a fast-paced innings of 51 runs for the team.

Apart from these two, Shreyas Mowa's 32 runs in just 16 balls also played a big role in taking Canada to the score of 194 runs. Only 3 bowlers from America got 1 wicket each. While 2 batsmen were run out.
