It is important to stay hydrated in the summer season, for this we are advised to drink water frequently. In summer, if we face any problem or fall ill, we are told that we do not drink enough water. But as you must have heard many times that excess of anything causes harm, in the same way if you are drinking too much water then it can also prove harmful for you. There are definitely many benefits of drinking water but if you start drinking too much water then instead of benefiting you, it starts causing harm to you.

The body has its own capacity to absorb water. If you start drinking water without paying attention to the quantity, then water starts accumulating in the body. In the language of science, this is called water intoxication. Whether there is a shortage of water in the body or excess, in every case the body definitely gives some signal, let's know about it.

What is water intoxication?

The problem of water intoxication occurs when we drink too much water. It interferes with brain function. Drinking excessive amounts of water increases the amount of water in the blood. It can dilute the electrolytes in the blood, especially sodium.

These signs start appearing in the body after drinking too much water

1. Feeling nauseous or vomiting

Just as the amount of water in the body getting reduced is called dehydration, similarly the amount of water getting increased is called overhydration. When there is too much water in your body, the kidneys are unable to remove the excess fluid. It starts accumulating in the body, causing nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

2. Constant headache

You can have headaches both in hydration and dehydration. When the amount of water in the body increases, the salt level decreases, due to which the cells start swelling. Due to this swelling, the cells become larger and the cells present in the brain put pressure on the scalp. Due to this pressure, you may feel a constant headache.

3. Feeling more tired

Drinking too much water makes the kidneys work harder to remove the water. Because of this, sometimes hormones also become unbalanced, due to which you may feel more tired.
