The commander of Mahabharata who destroyed the Pandavas' army in one night, has a connection with owls and crows

Mahabharat Story: Many great warriors participated in the war of Mahabharata, whom it was almost impossible to defeat. The big thing is that these warriors fought the war on behalf of Duryodhana, yet he lost. The main reason for this was Duryodhana's wrong decision during the war. According to mythology, there was a warrior in Duryodhana's army who could fight 72000 warriors alone. This warrior remained alive till the end of the Mahabharata war.

In the Mahabharata war in Kurukshetra, Bhishma Pitamah was the commander from the first day to the tenth day on behalf of the Kauravas. After his death, Guru Dronacharya was the commander from the 11th day to the 15th day. After Dronacharya's death, Duryodhan made his friend Karna the commander. This was the reason for Duryodhan's defeat. During this time, he also had a warrior, if he had taken charge of the army, then perhaps the Kauravas would not have lost.

Who was this warrior?

The name of this warrior was Ashwatthama. He was the son of Guru Dronacharya. He was also the nephew of Hastinapur's Kulguru Kripacharya. Ashwatthama had the ability to fight 72000 warriors alone at one time. Ashwatthama was born in the house of Dronacharya, son of Bharadwaj Rishi of Angira gotra. Dronacharya was married to Kripi and Ashwatthama was born to Kripi. No one was able to defeat Ashwatthama in the entire war. He was considered to be an incarnation of Rudra.

The owl and the crow gave advice to Duryodhana

There is a mythological belief that after the death of Dronacharya, Karna was made the commander. After Karna's death, on the advice of an owl and a crow, Duryodhan made Ashwatthama his commander. Ashwatthama killed the remaining army of the Pandavas numbering in lakhs in one night and also killed the sons growing in the wombs of the Pandavas' wives. After this massacre committed by Ashwatthama, the Pandavas became disinterested.

Shri Krishna got angry

Lord Krishna was enraged at this act of Ashwatthama. He cursed Ashwatthama to wander as a leper for 3000 years. Ashwatthama was a Chiranjivi (immortal). That is why he is still alive. Along with this, his maternal uncle Kripacharya is also still alive.

Duryodhan's biggest mistake was

After the war ended, when Lord Krishna went to meet Duryodhan who was lying in a dying state, he scolded Lord Krishna a lot. On this, Lord Krishna reminded Duryodhan of the mistakes made in the war and told him that he had not recognized the power of Ashwatthama. If he had made Ashwatthama the commander instead of Karna, he could have won.

Ashwatthama was proficient in 18 subjects

Ashwatthama was proficient in 18 out of 64 subjects. He had learnt the art of war from great men like his father Dronacharya, Parshuram, Durvasa, Vyas, Bhishma, Kripacharya etc.
