The upper tooth of Mata Sati had fallen here
This temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of Mata. In this temple, Shakti is worshipped in the form of Narayani. According to the Puranas, Shakti Peethas came into existence at the places where pieces of body, clothes or ornaments worn by Mata Sati fell. These are called very holy pilgrimage places.
According to mythology, when Goddess Sati sacrificed her life in the sacrificial fire performed by her father King Daksha, Lord Shankar was roaming around the universe with the dead body of Goddess Sati. During this time, Lord Vishnu divided the body of Sati into 51 parts with his Sudarshan Chakra. The upper tooth of Goddess Sati fell at this place and Suchindram Shaktipeeth was built here.
Ganesh ji is worshipped in female form
Ganesh ji is worshipped as Lambodar at some places and as Gajanan at other places but in this Shaktipeeth, Mata Sati is worshipped as Narayani. Ganpati is worshipped as a female Vighneshwari. This was not seen anywhere else.
Unique architecture of the temple
There are about thirty places of worship in the temple. In one of them, the Ashtadhatu statue of Lord Vishnu is installed. As soon as you enter the temple, the statue of Sita-Ram is installed on the right side. There is a Ganesh temple nearby, in front of which there is Navgrah Mandap. Statues of nine planets are engraved in this mandap. The center of attraction here is the four musical pillars in Alangar Mandap. All these pillars are made of the same rock, but they resonate different sounds of Mridang, Sitar, Jaltarang and Tambura.
