After which Lord Shiva took the form of Sundareshwar and Goddess Meenakshi married Sundareshwar, the handsome young form of Lord Shiva in Madurai and their marriage ceremony was a grand event, which is celebrated every year in Madurai as Meenakshi Tirukalyanam or Chithirai festival.
