India is not a part of G7, then why is there discussion about PM Modi's participation in the summit?

Narendra Modi has started working after becoming the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile, the G7 summit is going to be held in Italy this week. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also received an invitation to attend this event. There is a buzz that the PM may start his first foreign trip from Italy itself.

Narendra Modi's third term has begun. After the swearing-in of the Council of Ministers, the division of departments and then the formalities of taking charge have been completed. S. Jaishankar is once again handling the responsibility of the Foreign Minister. The matter of foreign countries is also important because it is possible that Prime Minister Modi may start his first foreign trip from Italy.

After becoming the Prime Minister for the first time, Narendra Modi went to Bhutan on his first foreign trip. After returning to power in 2019, the Prime Minister chose Maldives. Now, according to the information revealed by the Ministry of External Affairs, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has invited Prime Minister Modi to attend the G7 summit. The PM has also expressed gratitude for the invitation.

Italy, Meloni and hosting the G7

Actually, the G7 summit is going to be held in Italy this week between 13 and 15 June. This time Italy is hosting the G7 meeting. Italy is organising the G7 meeting for the seventh time. Even though India is not a part of the G7, it can attend this summit on the invitation of Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.

Meloni visited India in the month of March last year. During this time, the heads of state of both the countries agreed to take the relations between India and Italy to a new level. As far as G7 is concerned, many experts consider India's presence on the G7 platform as an example of its growing power across the world.

Italy got the presidency of G7 on 1 January this year. Its hosting will continue till 31 December.

What is G7, how did Meloni become strong?

G7 is a common platform of the seven powerful countries of the world. Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Britain and America are part of this group. Apart from these 7 countries, representatives of the European Union have also been participating in this conference.

Meloni has emerged as the most influential leader in Italy in the recently held European Union elections. In comparison to Meloni, the German Chancellor and the French President have suffered a major setback in their country.

In such a situation, it will be very interesting to see these leaders on one platform after the elections. Meloni's far-right Brothers of Italy party has received 28 percent votes in the European Union elections. This has strengthened her domestic politics. At the same time, she has come into a position to become a kingmaker in Europe.
