There is severe heat across the country. In many areas, the mercury is crossing 45 degrees. People are consuming sugarcane juice to keep the body hydrated in the increasing heat. But the Indian Council of Medical Research i.e. ICMR has issued guidelines regarding sugarcane juice. In which it has been told how much juice should be consumed.

There is severe heat across the country. In many states, the temperature has crossed 45 degrees. Due to excessive heat, there is a lack of water in the body. In such a situation, people prefer to take liquid diet to keep the body cool and hydrated. Due to increasing heat, people are also drinking sugarcane juice, but some people are also drinking it in large quantities. In such a situation, the Indian Council of Medical Research i.e. ICMR has issued guidelines regarding sugarcane juice.

According to ICMR, excessive consumption of sugarcane juice can be harmful for health. This is because it contains high amount of sugar, which can harm health. ICMR has issued guidelines in collaboration with the National Institute of Nutrition. Sugarcane juice is also mentioned in it. ICMR has advised to consume it in small quantities. Now the question arises that how much sugar content is there in sugarcane juice. Let's know.

What is the sugar content?

ICMR has said that an adult should not consume more than 30 grams of sugar in 24 hours. Apart from this, this amount is 24 grams for children aged 7 to 10 years. ICMR has said that 100 ml of sugarcane juice contains 13 to 15 grams of sugar. In such a situation, if you drink more sugarcane juice, then it can increase the amount of sugar in the body. There is a risk of diabetes by drinking sugarcane juice for a long time. Sugarcane juice can harm those who already have diabetes.

What do experts say

Dr. S.L. Ghotekar of the Medicine Department at Lady Hardinge Medical Hospital in Delhi says that diabetes patients should avoid drinking sugarcane juice in large quantities. This is because it contains natural sugar. The glycemic content in sugarcane juice is also very high. Due to this, the blood sugar level of diabetes patients can increase rapidly. In such a situation, diabetes patients should stay away from this juice. Even if you feel like drinking it, you should drink it only on the advice of your doctor.

People who do not have diabetes should also drink sugarcane juice in limited quantity. One glass of juice a day is enough. But do not drink it every day. You can drink one glass of juice once in two to three days. It will not cause any harm, but if your sugar level is suddenly increasing due to drinking the juice then do not drink it.

How to stay hydrated in rising temperatures?

Keep drinking water. Drink 7-8 glasses of water daily in this summer.

To fulfil the water deficiency in the body, eat fruits and vegetables rich in water like cucumber, melon and watermelon. Include them in your diet.

Avoid excessive consumption of alcohol and sweets

Keep drinking water even when you go out of the house

Go out with your head covered
