The film became a hit and when Big B asked his father for permission to go to London, his father had put a condition. About which Amitabh has written in one of his blogs that his father had put a condition to marry Jaya and take her along. Amitabh did not agree to this at first but later he bowed to the insistence of his parents. After which, within 24 hours, the marriage of both was arranged and both went to London together. It is said that Amitabh's parents already liked Jaya, only convincing their son was left.
