Achleshwar Mahadev Mandir Mystery: There are many temples of Lord Shiva all over the world. Every temple has its own specialty. In all the temples of Lord Shiva, either Shivling or idol is worshipped, but the Achleshwar Mahadev Temple of Achalgarh in Mount Abu, Rajasthan is different from all other temples. Because, in this temple, not the Shivling or idol of Lord Shiva is worshipped but his toe is worshipped.

Worship of the right thumb of Mahadev

According to the mythological story, when Nandivardhan situated on Arbuda mountain started shaking, the penance of Lord Shankar who was doing penance in the Himalayas was disturbed. Because Lord Shiva's beloved cow Kamdhenu and bull Nandi were also present on this mountain. To save Nandi and the cow along with the mountain, Lord Shankar extended his thumb from the Himalayas itself and stabilized the Arbuda mountain.

Shivling changes color

The priest of Shri Achaleshwar Mahadev temple and the people around it say that the Shivling installed in the temple changes its colour twice every 24 hours. This Shivling is sometimes seen in black and sometimes in saffron colour. Also, Jalhari has a special significance. It is said that if it is not raining in summer, then filling the Jalhari with water will bring rain soon. Whatever the devotees ask for here, they get it. On fulfillment of their wishes, the devotees fill the Jalhari of the temple with water and milk.

The secret of the miracle pool

It is also said about this temple that the mountain here is standing because of Lord Shiva's thumb. The day Lord Shiva's thumb disappears from here, this mountain will also be destroyed. There is a natural pond under the thumb of the Lord here. No matter how much water is poured into this pond, it never fills up. Where does the water offered in it go, it is still a mystery.

Excellent craftsmanship

The craftsmanship of this temple is amazing. There is also a popular story associated with this temple that when the king ascended the throne here, he used to take blessings from Achleshwar Mahadev and take an oath to do justice to the subjects under the Dharmakanta. Dwarkadhish temple is also built in the temple complex. Outside the sanctum sanctorum, there are magnificent black stone idols of Varah, Narasimha, Vaman, Kachhapa, Matsya, Krishna, Ram, Parshuram, Buddha and Kalki avatars.
