Pakistan broke the agreement with India, it was our mistake… Nawaz Sharif confessed the truth after 25 years

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has made a big revelation. He admitted on Tuesday that Pakistan has violated the agreement signed by him and former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee with India in 1999. The former PM said this in clear reference to the attack carried out by General Pervez Musharraf in Kargil.

Addressing a PML-N meeting on the 26th anniversary of Pakistan's nuclear tests, he said, "On May 28, 1998, Pakistan carried out five nuclear tests. It was reported in the Indian Parliament that Pakistan had responded to India's nuclear tests with five tests.

Nawaz Sharif further said that after that the then Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee came to Lahore and made a promise to him and during this the 'Lahore Agreement' was signed. The agreement which talked about the vision of peace and stability between the two countries indicated a big success. It is a different matter that we went against that promise. He said that Pakistan was guilty for breaking this agreement.

'Pak violated agreement with India'

He said Islamabad had violated the agreement with India signed by him and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1999, in an apparent reference to General Pervez Musharraf's Kargil misadventure. The Kargil war took place just a few months after the agreement.

'5 billion dollars offered to stop nuclear testing'

Sharif said US President Bill Clinton had offered Pakistan $5 billion to stop it from conducting nuclear tests, but it refused to accept it. Nawaz said that if a person like (former Prime Minister) Imran Khan was in his place, he would have accepted Clinton's offer.

Further, 72-year-old Nawaz Sharif also told how he was removed from the post of Prime Minister in 2017 in a false case by the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar. He said that all the cases against him were false while the cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder leader Imran Khan were true.

Praise for younger brother Shahbaz Sharif

Along with this, Nawaz Sharif also praised his younger brother and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said that Sharif stood by him in every bad time. Attempts were made to create differences between us but Shahbaz remained loyal to me. Shahbaz was even asked in the past to become PM and leave me but he refused. Nawaz Sharif said that after assuming the post of PML-N President, he will resume efforts to strengthen the party.
