Sandeep Lamichhane will not be able to participate in T20 World Cup 2024
The past few times have not been good for Sandeep Lamichhane, who has represented Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment after being accused of rape. However, last Wednesday, a High Court of Nepal declared him innocent and also canceled his sentence.
After this, the Nepal Cricket Board had sought permission from the ICC to include Lamichhane in its squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which was accepted. This made the fans of Nepal very happy.
However, their happiness may have gone unnoticed as USA has refused to grant visa to Lamichhane, information of which the Nepal spinner himself shared with the fans by tweeting. He wrote in his tweet, "And US Embassy Nepal again did what they did in 2019, they refused to grant my visa for the T20 World Cup to be held in USA and West Indies. Unfortunate, I am a fan of Nepal Cricket. I apologize to all the well-wishers."
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that the US Embassy Nepal has refused to give visa to Lamichhane. Earlier in 2019, when CPL was organized in USA, Lamichhane was going to participate in it. But even at that time he did not get USA visa despite having all the documents complete. The reason for not giving visa to Lamichhane this time too has not been confirmed yet by the embassy.
