Amarnath Yatra 2024: What is the story of the pair of pigeons who heard the story of immortality? Still giving darshan!

Story of Pigeons in Amarnath: Every year lakhs of devotees come for Amarnath Yatra. This journey is considered one of the most difficult journeys. A Shivalinga itself appears from the snow in the Amarnath cave. Religious beliefs: It is also said that in this cave, Lord Shiva had narrated the story of Mother Parvati becoming immortal. Every year Amarnath Yatra starts in June-July. This year Amarnath Yatra will start from 29th June.

Why does a pair of pigeons always sit in a cave?
Whenever Amarnath Yatra is talked about, a pair of pigeons is always mentioned. Do you know why this pair of pigeons always sits in the cave? Let us know its mythological story.

When Lord Shiva narrated the story of immortality:
According to mythology, Mother Parvati asked Lord Shiva about the secret of immortality. Bholenath was hiding this secret from Mother Parvati for a long time. When Lord Shiva finally thought of telling the secret, he took Mother Parvati to this cave in the Himalayas. The reason for taking Lord Shiva to the cave was that no one else could hear his secret. This was because whoever listens to this story becomes immortal.

When Lord Shiva left the five elements:
According to mythology, Lord Shiva left his Nandi bull in Pahalgam, the moon with its matted hair in Chandanwadi, Gangaji in Panchtarni and Kantabhushan snakes in Sheshnag. After Sheshnag, there is a stop of Ganesh where Lord Shiva had left his son Ganesha. In this way, Lord Shiva separated his five elements and told the story of immortality to Mother Parvati.

The pigeons were listening to the story.
When Lord Shiva was narrating the story to Mother Parvati, she felt sleepy and fell asleep. But Lord Shiva did not know about this. In between, Lord Shiva heard the sound of 'gum-gum'. After this Lord Shiva saw that two pigeons were listening to the story. Seeing this, Bholenath became angry and started to kill him. On this the pigeons said that if you kill us then the story of immortality will become false. On this Lord Shiva released the pigeons. Then Lord Shiva gave a boon that the pigeon would reside at this place as a symbol of Shiva and Parvati.

For information, let us tell you that the oxygen level is low in Amarnath. But still pigeons live there. If these pigeons are seen during Amarnath ji's darshan then it is considered very auspicious.
