4000 year old skull revealed such secrets that even scientists got confused after knowing them

The skulls examined by the researchers are from the Duckworth Collection of Cambridge University. The first, dated between 2687 and 2345 BC, belonged to a man aged 30 to 35 years; the second belonged to a woman aged over 50. These skulls are dated between 663 and 343 BC.

'Thousands of years old human skulls found in Egypt have revealed such secrets that even scientists are left wondering. A new study has revealed that the ancient Egyptians were not only skilled in the field of medicine, but they also tried to treat diseases like cancer. Researchers have found evidence of attempts to cure brain tumors in patients thousands of years ago, which was way ahead of that time.

According to the report published in the journal Frontiers in Medicine , this analysis is based on two 4,000-year-old skulls. This result is a joint effort of researchers from Tubingen in Germany, Cambridge in England, Barcelona and Santiago de Compostela University in Spain.

Tatiana Tondini, a researcher at the University of Tubingen and author of the study, said, "We wanted to know the role of a disease like cancer in the past. How prevalent this disease was then. How people dealt with it."

According to Newsweek, the skulls the researchers examined are from the Duckworth Collection of Cambridge University. The first, dated between 2687 and 2345 BC, belonged to a man aged between 30 and 35 years, the second belonged to a woman over 50 years of age. These skulls are said to be dated between 663 and 343 BC.

Researchers said that they found a large wound in the skull, which indicates abnormal growth of tissues. Apart from this, there were many small wounds around it. But the researchers were stunned when they saw knife marks around the wounds. Tondini said, it seemed as if someone had deliberately tried to cut these cancerous lesions to stop them from growing. Researchers saw similar wounds in the other skull as well.

After this, when the skull was examined with the help of a microscope, the researchers could not believe what they saw. They said, it seems that the ancient Egyptians had tried to perform surgery on the cancerous lesion. This proves that even at that time people were working on making medicine for cancer and finding a cure.
