Oscars 2025 Rules: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has made a big announcement. Before next year's Oscar ceremony, the Academy has made many changes in the rules and protocols. Not only this, even the names of some categories have been changed.

Oscar is Hollywood's most famous and biggest film award. Every star of the entertainment industry desires to achieve this. Now a big information has come to light regarding this big award. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has made several major changes in the rules of the Oscar Awards. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has shared a big update regarding the rules and told what changes will be seen in its 97th edition to be held on March 2 next year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy has revised the eligibility criteria for films to promote traditional film theatres. From now on, films will be shown for at least a week in Los Angeles County, New York City, the Bay Area, Chicago, Atlanta and, with the new addition, Dallas-Fort Worth. In addition, films will have to meet expanded theatrical standards in many American markets and international sectors.

Development has also been done in animated features and international features. Animated feature films presented by foreign countries can now be discussed for both categories, provided they meet the eligibility requirements. It is believed that the composers are sure to benefit from the changes made. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Best Score category will now have a shortlist of 20 titles instead of 15, and at least three composers will now be able to receive individual awards for their contributions to a score. Now the writers will have to submit a final shooting script. It is believed that this is a step which can impact films with comprehensive improvements.

Special awards will be presented during the Governor's Awards Ceremony. The Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award will no longer take the form of a statue but an Oscar statuette, while the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will be redefined. Not only this, the Scientific and Technical Awards will be renamed. Submission deadlines have also been announced for different categories including animated short films, documentary features and international feature films.
