Difference Between PCOD and PCOS: There are many diseases around the world that women are struggling with, but they are not even aware of them, which include PCOD and PCOS. There are many women who do not know the difference between these two diseases, nor are they able to recognize their symptoms in themselves. This is the reason that after some time, when the diseases increase beyond limits and they lose hope of recovery, then women come to know about them. What is PCOD?

PCOD, also known as 'Polycystic Ovary Disease', is a common condition in women, during which the ovaries release eggs prematurely, which then turn into cysts. Weight gain, stress and hormonal changes can be the reasons for this. In case of PCOD, the ovaries become larger than their normal size and release excessive amounts of estrogen, which affects the fertility of women.

How to identify PCOD?

Every disease occurring in our body has some or the other symptoms by which it can be detected. Such as 

- Premature or delayed periods - Not being able to fix the date of periods can be a symptom of PCOD. Therefore, if your menstruation comes before time or after a long gap, then definitely consult a doctor.

- Growth of hair on body parts like face, stomach and back can be its symptom.

- Irregular weight gain or loss is also a symptom of PCOD.

- Increase in acne and oil on the skin.

- Feeling tired even after doing a little work or doing nothing at all.

What is PCOS?

PCOS, also known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, is a type of disorder which is more serious and dangerous than PCOD. This is a condition in which there is high metabolic and hormonal imbalance. This may affect pregnancy.

How to recognize PCOS?

The symptoms of PCOD and PCOS are largely similar, due to which people are not able to differentiate between them. These symptoms can be seen during PCOS-

- Irregular periods - If you have untimely periods, either heavy flow or very little bleeding can be symptoms of PCOS.

- Presence of dark spots on the skin.

- The possibility of infertility problem may increase during PCOS.
